SACRAMENTS OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH
Sacraments are effective outward tokens of grace, which Christ instituted and gave to the Church to administer. They are the means by which divine life is imparted. Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, Matrimony, and Holy Orders are the seven sacraments that make up the Catholic religion. Below you will find information on each sacrament and how to receive or contact someone for help!
Baptism
For Catholics, the Sacrament of Baptism is the first step in a lifelong journey of commitment and discipleship. Baptisms are normally celebrated during or after 10:30 a.m. mass or anytime agreeable with Father George. First time parents will need to attend Baptism instruction. To arrange Baptism or instruction, call the parish office at 419-453-3513.
Confirmation
Confirmation is the third sacrament of initiation and serves to "confirm" a baptized person in their faith. Our Religious Education Program prepares 7th and 8th grade students for the reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation. Contact Marilyn at 419-453-3513.
Eucharist and Reconciliation
The Eucharist, or Holy Communion, is a sacrament of initiation and can be received daily if desired. It is the central rite of Catholic worship. Our Religious Education Program prepares 2nd grade students and parents for the reception of the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Eucharist. Contact Marilyn at 419-453-3513.
Anointing of
The Sick
This sacrament can be given to those who are afflicted with serious illness or injury, those who are awaiting surgery, the weakened elderly, or to ill children who are old enough to understand its significance. Whenever someone is seriously ill, please call Father George at the parish office
419-453-3513 to receive this sacrament. In case of an emergency, call the rectory through the parish office number.
Matrimony
In Catholicism, marriage is a sacrament that a baptized man and a baptized woman administer to each other through their marriage vows and lifelong partnership. The Diocese of Toledo requests all marriage dates be scheduled through the parish office at least 6 months prior to the wedding date. Engaged couples must meet with Father George before a wedding date can be scheduled. Joy Filled Marriage workshop information can be found at the website www.jfmtoledo.eventbrite.com. For more information, contact the parish office at (419) 453-3513.
Holy Orders
Ordination, or Holy Orders, is a sacrament that is available only to men who are being ordained as deacons, priests, or bishops.
